In Beaufort, North Carolina, Landon Carter ,who is a popular student with no plans for the future, with his friends trifle their life. He is punished due to making terribly wrong by his friends so headmaster order to participate in after-school community service activities which include the high school's spring play. Also participating in these activities is Jamie Sullivan who is reverend's daughter.
Jamie is quiet and keeps herself to herself most of time so Landon and his friends always make fun of Jamie. However, Landon needs to help with his lines so he brings up the courage and ask for her help. Nevertheless, events are maintained unexpectedly. Londan doesn't expect to do but he falls in love with Jamie. Although also Jamie loves Landon, she stays far away from him because she is sick and going to die. He maintains to develop strong feelings for her although he knows that. The two lover doesn't care anybody. Landon wants to do everything for her. Jamie interested in stars so Landon gives her name to a star. In addition, they watch the star with telescope which she did when was a child.
Jamie's condition gets worse gradually. Unexpectedly, Landon says '' Would you marry me?'' =) They get married in church which her mother grew up there. They have a perfect summer together with more love than lots of people know in a life time. And she died with her unfailing faith.
